Clairmont Farms

Clairmont Farms is a family owned, organic lavender farm located in Los Olivos, five minutes away from the small, Danish town of Solvang. They sell a wide selection of lavender products, including culinary lavender, as well as lavender infused honey, tea, and dried goods. In addition to culinary lavender, they also sell personal care products such as lavender lotions, creams, scrubs, sprays, body butter, and even hand sanitizer. These products are all made from lavender oil extracted from lavender flowers. The owner, Sean, tells me that body butter is wonderful in healing crack or dry skin, specifically on the hands, arms, and legs. Likewise, lavender oil is not only calming, relaxing, and mediative, but when rubbed under the nose or temples, it can help with coping with nausea, motion sickness, or upset stomachs. For more information on pricing, you can visit their website clairmontfarms.com.

The owner says sales have been impacted massively as they have needed to close up their shop. Furthermore, northern Santa Barbara County is known for their wine tourism. As a result, shops in Solvang and nearby towns survive on tourism. With this lack of tourism, the owner estimates they have lost $20,000 - $25,000 in the first quarter alone. Luckily, the farm has not needed to change their method of delivery to meet the needs of the community during this time. The only change is the farm is also offering roadside pick-up. They have always accepted online orders and offered delivery services through UPS.

To contact Clairmont Farms, you can call them at (805) 245-6525, or email them at info@clairmontfarms.com. Moreover, they are clairmontlavenderfarms on Facebook and clairmontfarms on Instagram. During these unprecedented times, Clairmont Farms is continuously finding ways to serve the community. Currently, they are offering hand sanitizer to shops in Solvang and the greater community since hand sanitizer is such a rare item to come across in stores nowadays. They have 12 years of experience in making CDC approved hand sanitizer with vitamin E. We will get through these times together. While local farms like Clairmont Farms are supporting the needs of the community in whatever ways they can, you can, in turn, support them, by purchasing their items.

Stay well,

Emily & Talia

About Us:

Welcome! We are so glad you are here. This site was inspired by our desire to help local farmers and business owners on the Central Coast get through this difficult time. We began this project in April 2020 when we were freshmen at San Luis Obispo High School, enrolled in an agriculture biology class, which requires a project related to agriculture every trimester. We have continued this project throughout our time in high school.

We hope our time aids in shining a light on local farmers and business owners on the Central Coast while significantly decreasing the amount of wasted food.

Additioanlly, we'd like to thank our agriculture teachers Mrs. Bates and Mrs. Evans for their continued support.
