The Groves On 41

In 2010, Karen and Jennifer, a mother-daughter team, set out to plant olive trees in serene Templeton, Calfironia. Since then, they haven’t looked back. Today, they are selling extra virgin olive oil made from their olives. Unlike most olive oil farms we’ve featured, they have experimented with their olive oil and created fun flavors, such as raspberry and praline. Karen shared that praline tastes like brown sugar butter pecan and can be used to make kid-friendly toast. Simply make French Toast how you normally would, except with praline olive oil. That way, there is no need for maple syrup or butter, making for an even healthier breakfast goodie. It’s great sliced into finger French Toast with powdered sugar, or topped on oatmeal.

To contact them or purchase their products, you can head to their website thegroveson41.com. They are also on Facebook and Instagram and you can use the #groveson41. Currently, they can ship the products to your home, deliver in SLO County, or you may pick-up at the farm. Like mentioned above, they have also added an option on their website to offer pick-up, something they hadn’t implemented before COVID-19. In addition, they are double packaging their items in a plastic bag so customers can put the products on their car floor and remove the bag once at home. Such thoughtful service :)

The Groves on 41 used to also offer a farmhouse vacation rental, private weddings of up to 150 people, and hosted non-profit events. These services have taken the biggest hit as they were all put on hold when COVID-19 hit. Help support them during these trying times by purchasing their products. Try making a tasty, healthy variation of French Toast that your kids are bound to love!

Best,

Emily & Talia

About Us:

Welcome! We are so glad you are here. This site was inspired by our desire to help local farmers and business owners on the Central Coast get through this difficult time. We began this project in April 2020 when we were freshmen at San Luis Obispo High School, enrolled in an agriculture biology class, which requires a project related to agriculture every trimester. We have continued this project throughout our time in high school.

We hope our time aids in shining a light on local farmers and business owners on the Central Coast while significantly decreasing the amount of wasted food.

Additioanlly, we'd like to thank our agriculture teachers Mrs. Bates and Mrs. Evans for their continued support.
